Users of the game on Telegram Hamster Kombat, one of the most popular mobile games that is growing rapidly are victimized by phishing scams. The scammers are able to trick players into performing certain actions to benefit the attackers.

The attacks on phishing were just identified by the cybersecurity company Kaspersky According to cybersecurity expert Olga Svistunova. The expert told Cointelegraph:

“Our team has revealed a variety of frauds targeted at users of Hamster Kombat. For instance, fraudsters attract victims with the promise of changing in-game currency into rubles by phishing links which require login details to Telegram.”

Attacks that are successful can be executed when attackers have gained access to the user’ login credentials. Svistunova explained:

“Once credentials are entered, attackers gain access to personal accounts, enabling them to steal data, blackmail, and send fraudulent messages. This scheme targets victims in Russia but fraudsters from other countries might also start luring victims within the same scenario.”

Hamster Kombat is among the most downloaded mobile games having 239 million gamers over the course of the span of 81 days. The game that is a clicker has around an average of 4-5 million new players signing up each day, which makes it among the fastest growing digital platforms in the world According to Telegram creator Pavel Durov.
