News, OtakGames – Heihachi Fists meet fate in Tekken 8, a powerhouse sequel that’s the series’ most ambitious to date. Director Katsuhiro Harada and game director Kohei Ikeda explain why Heihachi Mishima had to be in the mix despite his death in Tekken 7.
A breezy story mode focuses on arcade culture as well as a deadly familial war, while the TEKKEN Lounge lobby makes it faster than ever to meet friends.
Heihachi
Heihachi, the man who never dies, is finally returning to Tekken. In the latest trailer, he is shown kicking both Jin Kazama and Kazuya Mishima into space (though he doesn’t quite get both of them).
Heihachi also teases the first ever Tekken story DLC though he didn’t give a release window. It appears to continue the clash between the Mishima and Kazama families.
Heihachi is the lord of the Mishima Zaibatsu, and is currently fighting for control of his family’s fortune against his son Kazuya and grandson Jin. Heihachi is a powerful pugilist with great punishers and a strong crouch dash approach. He also uses various forearm guards and knuckles during combat. Heihachi is also known for his ability to take the Devil Gene into himself and become more evil over time. Heihachi also hates his adoptive son Lee Chaolan as he believes he’s a distraction to his real goals. This is why Heihachi throws him off a cliff in Tekken 5 which awakens his Devil Gene.

Eddy Gordo
The second character to be added to Tekken 8 was Eddy Gordo. A Capoeira fighter, Eddy’s mission in life is revenge against the organization that killed his father.
During Evo 2024, Bandai Namco announced that Heihachi would be returning to the game as a premium DLC character, joining Lidia Sobieska, who will be available in July, and a new story expansion introducing Eddy Gordo, which is due in Fall 2024.
Eddy is the successor to his legendary Capoeira master, who joined the Mishima Zaibatsu forces in an attempt to cure his terminal illness with the medical technology of the corporation. Despite his best efforts, his master dies and Eddy is left in despair.
He abandons Tekken Force and heads to G Corp’s Millennium Tower where he confronts Kazuya. Using his deadly combos, Eddy proves to be an excellent rival for the devil gene carrier. KEISUKE and ATIF advance to the winners semifinals! Powered by Unreal Engine 5. Raise your fists and get ready for some brutal showdowns.
Lidia Sobieska
A politician and a karateka, Lidia Sobieska represents the Polish government in the Tekken world. She was born into a prominent political family, but she preferred to pursue her training in traditional karate. After her father was killed in a helicopter explosion, she swore to never bow down before unjust power.
Lidia entered university law school at the age of 16 and graduated first class five years later. She immediately ran for office at the age of 21 and won her first election. Her determination and martial arts prowess earned her the nickname “The Strongest Member of Parliament.”
Lidia sends a care package to Heihachi Mishima asking him to withdraw Tekken Force from Poland, but Heihachi informs her that he will not comply. Heihachi also asks that she cooperate with him or face a dangerous situation for her country. Lidia will appear in Tekken 8 this summer and will be playable for 72 hours early for players who own the character year 1 pass.
Jin Kazama
Despite the evil that is inside him, Jin Kazama still uses his mother’s teachings of balance and respect for all things. Unlike Heihachi, he does not view the world as being completely out of balance but instead chooses to destroy only those parts that are, in his eyes, unnatural.
When he defeated his father’s devil form (dubbed Devil Jin), he spared Kazuya and left him unconscious. He then reverted to his true form and returned to his family home in Yakushima.
In tekken 8, Jin has retained many of the Mishima-style moves from previous games while also gaining access to a number of the moves used by Devil Jin. This includes his utilization of Samsara, a move that was previously exclusive to his devil form. The game’s new Heat system also boosts the aggressiveness of a character’s battles while vivid environments and destructible stages add depth to fights. The result is the most action-packed installment in the series to date.
