OtakGames – Game publisher from Japan, Nintendo officially launched the game Super Mario Bros. Wonder on Nintendo Switch, Friday (20/10/2023). Super Mario Bros. Wonder was released about six years after the launch of the game Super Mario Odyssey (2017).
Between the two main games in this iconic series, Nintendo released spin-offs in the form of Super Mario Maker 2 (2019) and a port of Super Mario 3D World (2021). Unlike Super Mario Odyssey which features three-dimensional platformer gameplay, Super Mario Bros. Wonder has again adopted a two-dimensional side-scroller format in the style of old Mario games.
This means that the entire game will require gamers to walk to the right, jump from one place (platform) to another, and face various challenges to complete a level.
Super Mario Bros. Gameplay
This is the first mainline Mario game to feature side-scroller gameplay since the launch of New Super Mario Bros. U in 2012. Users will choose to play as Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Princess Peach, Princess Daisy, Toad, Toadette, Yoshi, and Nabbit. All of these characters have the same abilities, except Yoshi and Nabbit who can withstand attacks from enemies.
These two characters were implemented to make the game easier and more accessible, for example for children who want to play the newest Mario game. Throughout the game, gamers will explore as many as seven regions, from Fluff-Puff Peaks to Shining Falls.
This region has different characteristics, for example the Fluff-Puff Peaks which are synonymous with ice. When playing a series of levels in Super Mario Wonder, users can use items called Wonder Flowers.
When this flower is used, the level played becomes wild. The green pipes around Mario come to life. Mario can become a giant Goomba or a giant ball.
Once you take a seed called Wonder Seed, the level will return to normal. Other items that can be used include Elephant Fruit which turns the character into a strong elephant, Drill Mushroom for digging land, and so on.
Users will also be able to find a number of badges that can be used to strengthen themselves. Badges are divided into three, namely Action Badges, Boost Badges, and Expert Badges.
Super Mario Bros Badges
- Action Badges provide new abilities, for example turning a hat into a parachute, so Mario can jump from high places safely.
- Boost Badges are passive abilities, for example generating coins when eradicating enemies.
- Finally, there are Expert Badges, which make this game even more difficult to play, making it suitable for users who like challenges.
One example is the Invisibility badge, so that the player’s character appears transparent, cannot be seen. This game supports multiplayer features for four players. Users can enjoy existing levels, share items with each other, and revive friends when destroyed by enemies. When using Yoshi, the player character can be ridden by other characters.
